A Letter from Our President

To our valued customers,

With fall upon us, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the year, as well as sneak preview some of what will be coming in 2013 and beyond.

First and foremost, I want to thank all of our customers for a wonderful 2012 season.  We’ve enjoyed a lot of great feedback, from casual golfers, league members, and event organizers alike.  While compliments are appreciated we’re even more interested in criticism; it is with the guidance of our customers that we continue our tradition of improving and evolving.

Superintendent Neil Hayden has been with St. Denis for over 20 years.  With Neil at the helm, and the additional irrigation lake that we recently completed, we feel that we tolerated the weather this year at least as well as any course in northeast Ohio.

With over 10 years of service under his belt, Pro Shop Manager Gary Hackle is another St. Denis veteran.   Gary too is enjoying a busy season.  Under his direction, we have renewed our commitment to our popular rewards program.  We also launched a new senior special, and extended it to weekend afternoons for the first time in our history.  As excitingly, we had the privilege of hosting a record number of outings in 2012.  As we gear up for 2013, we’re thrilled to say we predict yet another record-breaking year for outing play.

St. Denis Party Center celebrated its 11 year anniversary, 10 of these under the direction of General Manager Halina Zatorscke, coordinating with our Executive Chef Tom Micco.  This year, Party Center Down enjoyed a face lift with a fresh coat of paint, while upstairs, Halina’s commitment to customer service and Tom’s passion for excellent food continue to win us rave reviews for weddings and golf outings alike.  Outside, we’ve re-landscaped our outdoor wedding space for a more beautiful setting than before.

2012 also saw an overhaul of our website; we updated the overall look and feel and worked to make the site easier to navigate.  The web-site will continue to evolve, offering conveniences like a real-time weather report, links to Facebook, and more.

As successful as 2012 has been, we are even more excited about 2013 and beyond.  Since we opened in 1968, St. Denis has benefited from its leadership’s vision.  The execution of a series of 5 year plans have allowed us to deliver ‘country club like amenities’ at a reasonably priced public course.  For example, the automated fairway watering system, the interconnected irrigation lakes, concrete cart paths, and St. Denis Party Center are results of this planning and reinvestment.

It is with great excitement we report that our current 5 year plan includes developing an additional 9 holes on our property immediately adjacent on the west boundary of St. Denis.  Additionally, we are planning for some of the most significant landscaping updates to our existing 18 in the last 10 years.  We’ll continue to optimize our websites as well as our event planning processes.  Through it all, we’ll be working even harder to garner customer feedback and with it, hope to continue our tradition of exceeding our customers’ expectations.

Finally, we have had some changes in our behind the scenes management team.  Additions to our Board of Directors include myself as President and my sister Alissa Griesmer as Vice President.  Maureen Griesmer has joined the team as our Chief Financial Officer.  As we have since 1968, we continue to benefit from the hard work and direction of Mary Ann Foecking, a core of St Denis since 1968.

Again, I extend a sincere thank you on behalf of myself, my family, and the entire St. Denis team.  Family owned and operated since 1968, it is only with your ongoing patronage that St. Denis can continue to be your golf choice and event setting of choice.
